When you fellas switch to 4wd fenders, or even just have your 2wd fenders for that matter, do you guys keep that plastic guard that bolts into the inside of the fender well? Or can i just go without? like i said, just curious. thanks in advance for your feedback.:thinking:

you have to get rid of it when you swap to 4wd fenders and its really your choice if you wanna remove it with 2wd fenders. it doesnt do a whole lot really.

might be better to leave it on the 2wd fenders so the back of your fenders dont get all dirt,..when you get 4wd fenders look for spare the 4wd plastics also

Im aware that i cant use the 2wd ones on the 4wd fenders, but why have them? i mean all the bagged guys dont run them, heck some of them dont even tub the fronts for a while. And as far as the wheel wells getting dirty, they are gonna be just as dirty either way. but yes, i hit a big bump a while back and my tire cracked one of the plastic guards, and i plan on rolling the lip on the inside, so thats why i am curious as to what you static dropped guys do. so, back to my question, do you guys run them or not?

I dont run them, Cause every bump i hit the tire would rub on it. Depends on how low you are and your tire size. But i would say remove them.

Use a block of wood on the outside and hammer the lips from inside

i took my plastic guards off and cut them right above the 3RD bolt so that the opening in the fender behind the wheel is still closed. if that makes sense haha. and to roll the fender lip, your pretty much pinching the metal lip in the inside against the rest of the fender by hitting the inside lip with a hammer and, like jettas said, using a block of wood for a dolly, or whatever you call it, on the outside. i hope i made sense in all of this, if not ask again and ill try to explain it better.

And 4wd fenders bolt right up correct? I need to hit the junkyard and see if i can get some along with some 4runner seats. Oh and just to reassure myself, the runner seats have to be out of the same years as my truck right?

you made perfect sense man..and yah 4wd fenders bolt right up, but the 2wd bumper is a little more narrow than the 4wd ones, so the bottom front of the fender where the bumper is supposed to bolt to will have to be modded...or jus get the 4wd bumper

Alright cool thanks man. I know these questions are stupid but the 4wd bumper will bolt right up correct? but could i keep my 2wd grill? and i know with the 4wd bumper, i need the 4wd valance? and 4runner fenders are the same as 4wd fenders right? so i can either just thake the fenders/bumper/grill/ lights/ etc off of either a 4wd or 4runner? (i know they are different styles but just sayin) any help is appreciated haha
