    81 diesel pickup
Hey friends … Glad to have found this forum of like minds. Have been missing these old side-tie pickups, so when my aunt out in SE Utah asked if i wanted to take over her little-used 81 salt-free diesel, it was hard to refuse. Not to mention the allure of owning a rust free older anything here in the northeast corner of the US, where such things can do wonders for your popularity rating at the parts store. The thing started right up and cruised back to western Massachusetts getting a juicy 40+ mpg out on the prairies. This truck came with the name Chiddi, which is the Navajo word for pick up truck, according to Auntie. She bought it with a rebuilt motor at 200k, from a South Carolina fella, who also painted it. I think he may have mixed his paint with a little too much beer, because of all the runs. Which made me question the rebuild too. (Sorry mate, if you’re on this list and recognize the description. Seriously - no hard feelings. Love the truck, but I have some questions for you.) Anyway, new to diesels, so may want to pick your collective brain from time to time. Looking forward to getting to know you fine folks.
