    Hey everyone,

I'm working on getting the weber working on my '73 hilux. I have it on and all connected but when I follow the instructions for tuning the idle, at the point when I'm supposed to set the best mixture, I screw the mixture screw all the way in and the idle doesn't change. I looked at the idle jets and they are 52 primary 50 secondary. could the large primary idle jet be my issue or is it the seat on the mixture screw, or something else?

Normally a 52 and 50 would work have you cleaned the carb as in rebuild or just tear it down and clean it up is it idling high ? Webers are notorious for weak throttle return springs I use a large spring for mine try swapping your jets around Check your seat on the mixture screw for damage
What is it doing idle bad to high

Thanks for the input Scrub. The idle is very constant but high. I bought it off of Craigslist and it was still in the box, so I didn't try and clean it, but I did look at all of the jets and they look clean. I think I will try removing the mixture screw and primary idle jets and run some cleaner through it. I did check the mixture screw for damage but I think it looks okay but I will take a picture and post it. If I am correct when the mixture screw is all the way in the truck should not idle at all and it would shut off correct? If the primary idle jet is too large will it still idle even when the mixture screw is all the way in?

Grab you linkage at the throttle cable hook up while running and with minimal force see if u can twist the linkage closed even more see if the idle goes down don't strong arm it just see if it reduces the rpms

I chased a high idle on my weber 34/34 synchronized and it ended up being pour machining on the throttle blade shafts . < a heavy universal throttle return spring insured it closed up every time . Returning my idle adjustability to normal .. Try that test up top just to clarify it isn't a binding issue keeping u from a lower idle

It's hard to tell jet sizes just yet carbs can be very upset if the mechanics and motions aren't operating smoothly
