Some of you may or may not remember me. Either way, I missed you all. Missed the site. Missed all the knowledge I was gaining... I really want to thank all those on this site who helped me in the past. I apologize to all those I made friends with...and then lost touch with. We're talking about some really really talented and unbelievably helpful fellow Toyota pickup owners. I was lucky to have had you guys to turn to back then, and I am sorry for disappearing without a hint of a "good bye". But, I'm back. Happy Holidays to EVERYONE!
i dunno, lol i just never have anything good to say really. lol but ya i wonder wat happened to alot of the older members on here
hey Joe!!!!!! Man i have been wondering what had happened to ya! I must say i'm pretty happy that you're back
Thanks, everyone! I've still got some last minute errands to run before all the parties we have to attend. But here's a couple of pics of a truck I just purchased last night. 80 year old original owner who always took it in to be worked on by the same mechanic since the truck was new, and who kept every receipt of anything done, finally decided the prices were right for a brand new, off-the-showroom-floor, pickup truck. So he made this 1977 SR5 available to whomever - UNDER ONE CONDITION. But before we get into that. Rebuilt transmission and new clutch last April. Front crank seal replaced last May, along with a new set of tires on all four corners. Last winter the radiator and the waterpump was replaced. A couple of months before that the rear wheel bearings, starter, alternator, and the cat - all replaced. Again, receipts for EVERYTHING. Pretty straight. No accidents - no bondo. Original paint. Minimal surface rust and none of it in vital areas. Immediate needs: 2 door gaskets, 1 windshield gasket, and it pulls to the left when you brake hard. (Not sure, yet, what's causing it but I assume the front driver's side brake isn't grabbing.) $500 FIRM. His ad was on Craigslist for 7 days. I didn't find it till the 7th day. Five other people wanted the truck, but none had the time to deal with this guy's ONE CONDITION. He wanted the buyer to come with him to DMV and transfer the title in front of him, so that he knew for sure it was no longer his financial responsiblity if the truck were to get into an accident. Period. He didn't care if you offered him $1,000 for the truck. To him, the grand would not cover the potential headache if he were held liable for an accident. No one who was interested in the truck in that 7 days his ad was up had the time. Many of them hung up the phone pissed. Others said they'd be back after Christmas. So, last night, I convinced him to accept my $500 cash, sign the pink slip over to me, along with a seperate bill of sale, and hold onto the key and the truck till the following morning (xmas eve). 8am, today, xmas eve, I was at his front door. We both drove over to the nearest DMV, and he stood there behind me throughout the whole thirty-five minutes it took to do the transfer. We chit chatted about all his experiences with the truck during our wait in line. DONE. He was happy. I am happy. I'll hit you guys up again sometime after Christmas. Maybe sooner if I can sneak away. Otherwise, be safe and enjoy!
