I have a total newbie question, is my '92 still considered a HiLux?
I have read many different things and I'm still not clear. Some auto parts places say it is, but I also read they are only called HiLuxs in Australia after '89.
    Any thoughts?

US stopped using the Hilux name with the 2nd gen. Mainly after 74, but yes technically it still is a Hilux

My take is the "Hilux" is generally the same vehicle as the "pickup" but with a few variations for other countries (like 4dr options or utility bed, etc) Then right around 2004/2005 when the 2nd gen Tacoma came out for the US, the Hilux split off visually and they no longer share body parts -- kinda the same for the 4runner series around that time, where before the pickup/4runner could swap body parts.
