Has anyone performed this operation on a 4rd generation pickup? If so how's the best way to accomplish the task?
Ok, I'm sorry. I know how to cut the sheet metal, I'm just wondering what looks the best as far as finishing it out. Where to cut, how much of the wheel well to remove, that sort of thing....
take it all out if you're going to take it out in the first place. I would cut pretty close to the seam and then grind it down smooth.
i'm assuming your going to bag your truck? maybe body dropping it? You should account for future plans when doing something like this, then you don't have to redo it a second time. If your just cutting it out for cleareance then raise the wheel up as far it will go and continue to remove the metal till the tire clears and it won't slice into your rubber.
Yeah, there's a possibility of bags, I did notch the rails in the rear in anticipation of that also. With the lowered springs, the axle hit the bumpstops pretty easily and it rode like crap. Once the notch was in, huge difference. right now with just the drop spindles, the tires hit the top of the inner fender on occasion. This is why I want to remove them.
You could do like some and make the hole large enough for the tire to pass through when it bottoms. I personally don't care for the hole trick, I'd rather see it completely gone or add some trailer fenders to it. My truck is bagged and bd, set up to run 20's just in case I decide on going larger than an 18. Its also setup to retain the factory heat and a/c with little mods made to the blower case so it all fits nicely.
Does anyone have pics of the relocated engine bay items? Coil, fuse/relay box, ect. Just looking for ideas....
Id like to see some pics too as i am having the exact same issues as U ! I hate that rubbing and it looks to good lowered more to raise it up to keep from rubbing..lol
do you need to tubthe firewall if you are running 18's??i plan on bodydropping to the rocker..cutting off the pinch weld..do i need to tub the firewall for this?
