I replaced my blown transmission with another used one tht I knew worked well before. I replaced the rear seal today because it was leaking. All is good...not still leaking but I don't think it's the rear seal. Could it be the shifter gasket? And is it true you can only get it from Toyota?

clean up under the truck, then you can see where it's leaking from. +1 for more info on what you're working on.

So after you changed the output seal and you're still leaking? Maybe you're not getting a good seal on the shaft. Try sanding it and maybe a little permatex.

When I got home today I checked it and where I wiped I clean nothin there. But when I felt the bolts for the shifter they felt a little oily. So I'm thinking it's leaking from there. Everything else feels dry and I didn't replace tht gasket since I heard it's a dealership only gasket

RTV the shift housing gasket, I always have and it works fine on 25+ year old ones.

How would you RTV the driveshaft  It did occur to me as well that the shaft could have a groove in it causing the seal not to seal. If it did, it would be visible and simply not installing the seal as deep would fix it.
