Turn the key to start the car and nothing. No turning over no clicking. Nothing.

I think my starter is out. How do I change it?

I know it held by 2 bolts. and some wires are hooked up to it. It's located on the passenger side right below the intake valves. It's connected to the motor or something.

If it is your starter I suggest rebuilding it by changing out the contacts instead of buying a reman one. Very easy to do and cheaper.

you sure its not ur battery? maybe to weak to kick the starter...? else just buy a new starter, its like 70$ in autozone with life time warranty.. =D Thats what i did:D

Just lift the front high enough to get in there, you should be able to get the bottom bolt quick with some pressure it will go loose, then unhook the 2 wires which is not diffcult to remember where they go, since their gonna hang there, then try get the top bolt if can't underneath the car, pop your hood and try squeeze in there, its hard when the bolts are really really tight but if not then everything should go smoothly.:waytogo:

Thanks for the help last night TDS909. We got the starter off.

Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to break into my truck.

I locked my keys in the truck.:brickknock:

I have a solid piece rear glass.

Will the clothes hanger trick work or should I just take a brick to my window.

Locksmith will probably be better than a brick (at least you won't have to clean up the mess, buy a new window, and then install the damn thing). I have not had the pleasure of trying to break into my truck yet.

Got the keys. I borrow a jimmy from the local mechanic.

Got my starter installed. Car makes a weird noise when it starts. I think I over/under tightened it.

    Can anyone confirm that?

Also, my new bike died on me today. Carbs are ****ty. Also taking apart the bike today. I ripped the fuel line. 3.5 gallons of 91 octane all up in my garage. hosed that bitch down.

    I'm having some bad luck.

Sold the stuntbike today. No more stunting for me. Planning on putting speakers on my bike. Anyone want to help?

wow... I feel for you and your bad luck...

What kind of weird noise does it make?

I just replaced the starter on my 20R. The old starter was not original, because the idiot who replaced it did not bolt the bracket for the ?slave cylinder? back to the bottom bolt on the starter, but he had to bend it to where it was in the way of me removing the bottom bolt. With me and my large hands and arms, I could not get any decent angles to hold the bracket out of the way to get to the bolt. Finally after enough swearing, I managed to get a good angle to hold the bracket to the side and pull that bolt. The top bolt was a PITA, since I could not get my arm quite to the nut and all my long extensions for my ratchet were missing (forearm got wedged between the throttle linkages and various other stuff). Getting everything back together was not quite fun either. I wanted to bolt the bracket back in place on the bottom bolt, but since it was out-of-shape, it pushed back on me as I was trying to thread the damn bolt in the hole, and I lost the nut for the top stud because I couldn't get my arm in there (luckily I kept the one that was on the starter that I pulled from the bone yard). After a lot of swearing, banging on this, that, and the other, various cuts, and four hours, I managed to get the starter replaced. I was *so* very excited when it started right up afterwards!

I've asked around and everyone says that you need to tighten the starter to a certain spec or it'll scratch the flywheel.

I think that is the noise when I start the car.

I also left out the connection at the bottom bolt. I couldn't get the bolt thru with the connection in the way. Either way, I'm just happy my car is working. I'll adjust it when I get the chance.

I'll add some threadlock for some security.

Anyone know how to clean and adjust carbs for a motorcycle?

Torque to 29 ft/lbs that's a little itty bitty bit tighter than hand tight. That's what I did.

    Garage still smells like octane.

Carbs on my bike are almost done.
