So I picked up some 99mustang GT rims for my 90 pickup. Now I am trying to decided what size tire to mount to them… it’s lowered 2/3 and I want to go more. I want the equal amount of tire to rim look. Not more rim than tire or more tire than rim. So 225/40/17?
So far i've gathered that they are 17" whats the width? I have 17x7s and the tires are 205/40 and they are pretty much even with the wheel
Should say 17x8 on the back. Measure in between the bead seat. Looks like its a 8" wide wheel. If all 4 are the same then maybe 225/40 would be a good size and pretty common
Mustang wheels from that era will be 17x8. My truck had 235/45 on it when I got it, on an 8’ wheel and they bulged just a bit. If you want flush then most likely a 225 will be right.
I still have the 17” mustang starfish wheels that were on my truck from PO. For whatever reason they’re staggered size - one is 215/55-17 and the other is 245/45-17. The 215 is just inside the wheel face, the 245s are outside the wheel face. 225 sounds about right for a flush tire
