Ok before I try and figure this out on my own I thought I'd ask some of you here since like the title says "I hate electrical" problems!

I have a 87 4x4 that I'm busy doing work to so it will be road worthy. The problem I'm having is I don't have high beams. I have low beams and when I click on the 'temporary' high beams they work just fine but when I turn the switch to high beams and leave it there I lose my headlights all together. Anyone have any ideas?

    relays.

the "pass switch" is like a direct switch only meant for temp use, the "hi beams" switch runs through a relay.

Shonuff nailed that one. if its not that then check your combination switch as well.

Would that be one of the relays under the hood

Combination switch? The switch in the steering column I'm assuming?

BTW, thx guys! Sure makes tracking down electrical gremlins when you have a starting point!

Yes. its the entire switch assembly in your steering column.

I'd like to check that relay before pulling my steering column apart. Anyone know where that one is the ShoNuff is talking about?
