Well about 2 yr ago I can across 2 RHD clip, and I sold one to a friend. And did my swap. Well it was time to do his. So here it is He drove the truck down form pismo to the shop Friday night. We started on it sat. after noon. We started the tar down and got a lot done the frist day Do to the v8 swap we chose to pull the cab. by the end of day one we had the old fire wall out
Day 2 the fun started. He had already strip the RHD fire wall out, so we prep the metal and put the RHD fire wall in . As I fit the fire wall and welded it in Derrick started on the steering. Sence it a 4x4 the box we got with the clip work, an like mine witch had to be a 2 wheel drive box. By the end of day2 we got the cab back on and Derrick started to wire the truck. Sence the v8 he had a little more wiring and we got rid of the iner fender well so we had to do a wire tuck too.
Day 3. I start on the front end and Derrick stayed on the wiring. I made so tube supports for the core that bolt in. And mounted 2 4 runner ac fan on the fornt. . Then my glass guy cam back with the windshield. I had him rap in the the late model Tacoma gasket. I think it has a cleaner look. Derrick still had a lot of wiring still to do. . So we call it a early day and went and got some beer!!!
Day four: I got the rest of the front end on and the wiring done and went for a drive tripping people out lol. But Derrick forgot the dash at his house so when he put it on I get some pic of that. But here the rest that I have.
Damn thats killer!! Always wanted a RHD truck, didn't realize it took that much to do. Is it still gonna be street legal?.
You guys do some quick quality work bro.It would take me a while to get use to that RHD.Turned ot cherry.
Thats good to know the tacoma gasket fits on these trucks. Looks like more killer work from Empire. Keep up the quality work.
It's not to bad you get used to it quickly. It just needs final changes to make it more reliable but the engine is coming out and I have LS1 I'm the garage for it
Great job on the swap!!! As for the tacoma gasket...any particular years? I would love to replace the molding on my 94's windshield!!!
Any special trim stuff I need to know when I go order the tacoma rubber piece? Also will it work on the 84-88 pickups? I don't see why it wouldn't, but want to make sure.
The trim that we use was from and 98 Tacoma my glass guy came in and I showed him want I wanted. he had to pull the glass and take it overnight to glue the rubber on cus it has to wrap around the corners, so it has to sit for 24 hours before you glue the windshield back into the truck. It should work on your truck as long as the top corners are round like the pickup and tacomas
