Does anyone else have a humming sound when accelerating? It can only be heard when accelerating. When I let off it stops, any gear, any speed, and it doesn't happen in neutral. It sounds like it is coming from the front. Its not the diff whine either. Please help.
Thanks for the reply. Would the bearing affect anything else like shifts or does it just make the noise. The shift feels pretty good and the clutch feels neutral, not heavy or light. Mechanically everything feels good, but the hum is just awful.
Throwout bearing should not be audible without some pressure on the clutch pedal unless the hydraulics aren't fully releasing. Driveshaft carrier would probably be more from the seat/beneath/behind you. What you're describing sounds exactly my trans in the cressida: used to hum like a supercharger when accelerating. after putting the rebuilt engine in and starting to break it in, it sounds like gravel from the bellhousing even idling. from the timing of when it stops pushing the clutch in and when it's there/not I'm positive it's the input shaft bearing.
