Hi Everybody, Just wanted to say hello and say that I'm glad I finally decided to become a participant on the forum. I owe thanks to many of you for the detailed information you've shared on here. I recently finished a motor swap in my 88 (along with a ton of other mods) with my 2 sons. We shoehorned a 1JZ GTE (JZZ30) and a R156 tranny in the rig. I want to pay it forward for anyone wanted to do something like this and share what I've learned...including the pitfalls and challenges that come with it. I will do my best to answer questions as my time allows and share the pics I have on the build and will do my best to put it in the right part on this forum. It's still a work in progress and I'm hoping some of you out there will be able to assist me in figuring out some electrical gremlins I'm still sorting out. Here's a short little video of the truck so far. It's in limp mode, so the tire roasting will have to wait...https://youtu.be/aKht6HWuYBU Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Gary! Just figuring out how the forum works and exploring all of the awesome builds on here...I will put up a little build thread of my own soon.
Welcome 20point! Wheewww great video! And great choice of song to! Let me know once your build thread is up so I can check it out! Also do you know where there might be another R154 tranny just "layin" around?? Better yet the V160??
Thanks guys! @creetin247; I picked up my set up straight through JDM racing engines. I've seen a couple R154's for sale MKIII versions (not the Soarer/ remote shifter style like I inadvertently got), I think on some other forums. There's a forum just for Supra's (can't remember the name) that had a couple. Good thing about those is that they're darn near bullet-proof. I've learned that they really prefer Redline MT-90 over anything else too... I will start the build thread tomorrow hopefully.
