I'm trying to figure out how to remove the plastic cover on the side mirror base. My drivers mirror is loose and I need to tighten the bolts. I'll also be needing to find a passenger mirror to put on my truck, so I don't want to break the plastic cover trying to figure out to to remove them at the junkyard.

If you are talking about the mirrors that attach to the front of the window frame....

On the inside of the door, there's a triangular piece of plastic you need to remove first. Pry up on the back end, toward the back of the truck first (I think). The front has a tab that slides in a slot, so don't break it. Then under that piece are three screws. I think a #2 Phillips will do.

I don't have any experience with the door mounted mirrors...

The caps on the door mounted mirrors have the slots on the bottom if im correct its easier to pull the top first. You can pull them off with your hands. Then there are 2 screws on non power and 3 on powered mirrors. phillips as well

Yes I have the door mounted mirrors....so I can just pull the upper portion off first? Do I have to squeeze the sides in or anything or just pull it up?

    thanks for the reply
