    Hello guys,
I own a '78 truck and i'm in the process of lowering it and wanted to know how your trucks ride after the drop.
many people are telling me that mine is gonna ride like crap if I lower it.
    is that true??
how low can I go without compromising comfort?
is there anything I can do to make ride smooth.?
I would really appreciate your input.
    Thanks,
    WC

2 coils cut off springs, bumstops removed, and kyb shocks in front. Middle leaf removed and 3 inch blocks for rear with new stock shocks. Mine rolls a little stiffer and u loose payload removing a leaf but I can deal with it for the look. No aftermarket suspension stuff for these years....

If you have the early 78 (coil spring) you could roll stock/drop mighty max springs with good shocks depending on how low u want to go and de arch the leafpack.

Never dealt with coil springs so can't say what works good!
But research & do it right & you won't regret it!
I rode static dropped for a few years, all done right & by me,ride was great , handling was great !
Bagged my ride ,again doing all I could to do it right, & same ride & handling.
Do it once & do it right!!

    Thanks for the responses guys
    Jaybee,
Is cutting my coils the wrong way?
    Rink,
Do you think that using the mighty max coils is better?
I just ordered KYB shocks hoping they are better than stock.
Are 3" blocks a good option for the rear ?
    Thanks again for your input

@ Bayunco - it all depends on how low you want to go and if you need your truck to still function like a truck. My truck is lowered almost 2", but not to the point where its on the ground. I still take my truck camping, so it will need to go off-road. I bounce a little bit in my truck & its still comfortable.

At any rate, lowering is always better than stock height.

It really does matter how low u want to go. Never bought mighty max springs so dont really know if they are better but they are 34 years newer :) I tried a 4 inch block with a pulled leaf and my bed sat on the frame rails. Thats why I mentioned de arching the leaf pack so u can keep your payload. I have a mild drop and im running 16'' wheels with 40 series tires.

Cutting coil will lead to alignment issue..my set up in my other truck was torsion a inch and BJ flip in the front os 3"lowering in the front.
plus a 4"block on the rear minus the rear bump stop and trim the front bump stop..and it rides like a champ..never bottoming out..make sure to get drop shocks ..

A static drop truck can ride nice, Not a Yota but my Silverado is coil springs, Im running a 6/8 drop (notched rear) with good drop shocks and it rides stiff but nice.

    Guys,
excuse my ignorance, what is a static drop exactly.?
I googled the word and i'm still confused.

    Let me get this straight.
    REAR SETUP
1-The 3" blocks on rear are ok,
2- need to shave or remove bump stops
    3-may remove overload spring
    FRONT SETUP
    1-BJ flip
    2-torsion bar adjustment
    3-drop shocks?????
4- no spindles for this model?
    5- mightymax shocks????
    6-remove or shave bump stops
    6- ??????

I would like to drop it maybe 4"
    What do you think?
I don't plan on carrying anything too heavy.

Thanks again for your help patience as I know
    Little about this stuff.
