Appears I will be getting a Stout! VERY excited, either I will need to get some Hilux brakes or I will need to do a frame swap but that seems a bit excessive......

Anyone have a old from suspension that they are willing to get rid of? Spindles, discs, rotors from the Hilux...

69-78 I believe are the years.....

Thanks and let me know what you are asking if available...

I have a set of spindles with brakes on them. Parted the crossmember from a running truck. Little heavy to ship but could make it work if you still need them.

I have guy who I agreed to buy his brake set up however its been 4 months and still nothing. Checking with him now. If he doesn't get back to me or isn't going to be able to come through (which looks possible) ill for sure want your set. Lemme know what you would want for the set.
    THX!

Sounds good. Let me know if you need the parts. They're my spare parts, i plan to run 85+ brakes when I replace the balljoints. So I'll have a second set later this summer too.

You running 14's correct? Will the '85+ fit with stock wheels? Lastly, has anyone figured out a drop spindle for the hilux? (And 14's...)

Yup. I have stock rims. 195/65/14 and 215/60/14 tires. Fronts a perfect, backs are a bit too narrow for my motor. 14s came stock til 95 or so. Drop spindles for an 85-95 work if you flip them left for right side. And flip the lower ball joint to aim he other way. I've yet to do it, but since our spindle is the same as 79-83 and they use 85+ parts a lot it should theoretically work.

Kewl deal! I was made to believe that the drop spindles wouldn't work as the TRE would hit the rim. Is that why the reversal is needed?

Tie rod problems could be fixed with a larger diameter wheel, which allows bigger brakes. My plan is 12" rotors and 16s. Have most of the braking parts. Anyways the swap side to side is because after 78 the center link was in front of the crossmember. 78 back was behind, and protected when low, by the massive crossmember. After getting a truck with the lower A arms and coils its tough to go back to strut bars and torsions.

I'm hoping to keep the 14's.. However have some fusch replicas if the 15" variety.. Not sure I want to go much bigger. Stout is like the 78 and older with the link behind. May just try it... Love to find some used drop spindles to mock up! Will see what prices I can find!

I think if you kept stock brakes and didn't go too wide up front it should clear a 15 fine on drops. I think that's recommended specs anyways.
