    1980 Toyota pickup. 20R 2wd
Hey everyone! My name is Mike, I have a 1980 Toyota pickup. It's a single cab, 20R, 2wd. I'm in the process of putting a new 20R in it. I would appreciate any tips or advice. The old motor had emissions controls on it and the new one I'm putting in does not. Do I have to transfer all that junk onto the new one in order for it to run right? Thanks! :)

    welcome!
the 20R/22R motors are pretty simple to tool around with.
What's wrong with the current 20R?
If the head of the current 20R is in good shape, you can put the 22R block in it for more displacement (gives plenty of torque).

From what I know, you can remove all the emissions stuff and throw in some weber. It'll run pretty well.

good luck, and i'll wait for the other members to chime in since I have the 22RE.

Thank you everyone for your input. I think I will try to eliminate as much emissions crap as possible.

From what I have gathered the stock carb does not like to be messed w/. From what I have read on this forum, the stock carb likes all that vacumn stuff. Some people people say it runs fine, others don't.
