Looking forward to being a part of your community! These old Pickups are getting harder to find parts for all the time! I’ll appreciate all the guidance as well.

I have a red 1978 RN23 that I’ve been daily driving for 15 years now, and have just decided to give it the restoration a fairly clean, original truck deserves. My best friend’s parents were the original owners, and he drove it all through high school. On my 25th birthday, he gave me a small box with the original key and title inside. It’s lived in the redwoods of CA and on the streets of San Francisco, and now happily resides in the Central Valley.

CA is still a smog state, so I’ll need some carburetor help (there’s a weird skip when you ease off the pedal), and I’m installing an aftermarket/factory Nippondenso A/C this summer. And since I got the truck I’ve been looking for a dash clock and whatever switch was supposed to be optional in the passenger side dash blank.

    See you guys out there!

    Cheers,
    John

Welcome aboard! That dash clock is a needle in a haystack! I've seen the pictures in the brochure but never seen one in real life.

Look into the vintage air underdash units. They are alot like what the factory had to offer. The dash clock is going to be a Jeco 50mm. As @KS.ID said needle in a haystack. Even finding something aftermarket to fit is hard.

The truck looks good. Start a build thread and post more pics.

None of my source references say what the passenger side dash blank is used for.
It could be a European or overseas item as Toyota sold these trucks worldwide.

Looks to be used for auxiliary lights.

Makes sense. Must be a European thing. RHD.
