Here in South Carolina attending Clemson University with my 75 toyota hilux sr5. Found it behind someone's shed and asked them about it and they sold it to me for 50 dollars. Ironically the truck had a Clemson tag on the front so I guess it was meant to be. Now I am in the process of restoring it and am happy to finally meet others who are familiar with the hilux name. Not many of these trucks exist in this area anymore and I only see a handful of these still on the road. I have gotten the engine rebuilt and am currently cleaning it to make it more road worthy. The 20r engine was said to be one of the best toyota made and just to show how strong these little engines are when I bought the truck I drove it home to find out it was running on 3 cylinders with 2 burnt valves with the same oil in it for 10 years without smoking and cranked right up haha. :waytogo:

damn! that thing is clean. for needing a bath. lol. i dont see any major rust or damage. i vote to keep it brown and drop it on some nice wheels. nothing fancy, just something classic like steelies or 5 spokes. the guys that really know these bodystyle trucks here on the site would be; burnzya, shonuff, me, curtisz, 77yoter, nook, the rookie, charlie commando, and a few others. but we seem to be the ones that have had to tear them down to nothing. and back. lol. keep us updated with a buildup thread.

Yeah I got really lucky on this find. The bed has some rust damage but I have another truck for parts and it has a good bed on it. A couple of things I need that I cant find is a good pair of visor clips, the hood windshield sprayers, and a pair of the vent caps on the sides other than that this thing is pretty much complete and wont be hard to get looking good

Shoot that is a crazy good deal. I got mine from a freind who kinda cut it up and tore it apart for 450, I put it all back together, and I still think I got a good deal, I somewhat think that 73 is more rarer but who knows, I love it.

Nice to see more people in South carolina, im in Rock hill, about 30 mins south of charlotte, nc. It would be cool to maybe have a SC yota truck meet in the summer or something whenever my truck is truely ready for the road, Im messing with brakes and suspension right now.

O yeah so far I put new shocks on it and replaces the ball joints and tie rods and got the engine rebuilt. I like the grill on the 73s and 74s and that hood ornament. I never seen that style except on ebay so it probably is harder to find then mine.:applause:

yep. 75-78 grille came with and without rings. i lost one of mine in a crash and found out they pop out. good luck with the parts hunt. ill keep my eyes out for that stuff. color preferance on the visor clips? that is a great price though. i got my 78 for $500 and was astounded how clean and original it was. and low miles. :D read my buildup. same with 77yoter and curts, and shonuffs. we have done alot. you could learn alot from the build up pages. its split into two areas...the 75 and backs and the 76-83s. dunno why really. lol.

Well the ones in my truck were white I have one and havnt had luck in finding anymore, its been a tough one getting everything together but thats half the fun. I have a couple things for a 78 like the vent caps and the mirror for the side which are different from mine so if anybody needs them I have them. maybe could swap parts always happy to help anyone haha know these things are scarce.

when you change the steering wheel to an aftermarket one, youll be limited to a grant column adapter. which only fits 3 bolt wheels. unless you drill holes into another wheel that uses more but hides them with a cap. but there are atleast a few options. i have a 3 spoke w/ holes in chrome. and some other old school wheels.
