I need to make my truck a lil more fuel efficient, i dont think I even get 23mpg..

I drive an 88 with the 22re so I thought there might be some way to take advantage of the fuel injection and better tune it for fuel economy..

I mean It's a 2.4L and the truck weighs close to nothing, what can I do?

Ive made a habit of doing small things like not using the a/c and always putting it in nuetral at a sit still to take some strain off... But I think further modification is necessary so im pre-pared for this $4/gal bull****

most of it I think is the transmission that is probably geared lower for torque, might be what is killing me on the highway..

    Cover all of the basics:
    1)tune up
    2)correct tire pressure
    3)drive the speed limit
4)no jack rabbit starts ----------->>>>just to name a few

if you have a 5spd swap in a taller gear from a 4spd truck i buzz 80 at about 1800rpm and slight pressure on the gas pedal maybe pullin 27 on the highway and it will idle through town in 2nd /3rd so i hardly ever touch the gas in town unless im showin up a v8 my truck was originaly a 4 went to a 84 celica 5spd stock rear has 398XXX showing on a odo that has gotten stuck so many times i think the truck has closer to 450K never been rebuilt drained the sludge when i got it filled with lucas proceded to smoke tires everywhere god i love toyotas

I Wud b so happy to pay $3.65 u have no idea Cali is ridiculous right now on gas it just went up to 4.19 a gallon. I guess there was a fire at the refinery in te DIESEL part of the plant so everything went up. It was about 3.65ish before tht tho. Its been high all year

Gas is $2.20/L over here in nz.. so $8.80/gal nzd.. and my 3Y 4spd gets 400km to a tank if I'm lucky >.>

I think it went up about 50km a tank after she dropped an intake lifter, and I get that lumpy cam sound at idle :p

I could get gas for 3.20 here in Nebraska if I wanted the cheaper stuff.
