    So my ex girlfriends mom gave me a welder an then about 2 weeks ago her an I broke up. Now there trying to take the welder that theygave to me back. It's been in my possession for over a month. An I have the texts saying thatjt was given to me. Can they take it back legally or no

    I say if they gave it to you, its yours! But I'm an ass when it comes to things like that.

    If you want to, ask a friendly neighborhood officer (and/or lawyer) and see what they say.

    Yeah, I'd have to agree. I mean I have been in the opposite situation, where I bought stuff for my girlfriend and then we broke up and I felt dumb about it and wished I hadn't gave them the stuff but tough ****. I mean I gave it to 'em... That's that. I'm on your side. They gave it to you, you should keep it. What kinda welder are we talking about, just out of curiosity?

    The proper legal thing to do would be to file a report with the texts, at the police or sheriff to show proof of ownership, file a restraining order while you're there stating that she and her family are syco and you fear for your saftey, the tell her what you did they wont even call you ever again.:waytogo:

    Well I gave it back come to find out they gave me her uncles welder saying it was her dads an he was like there are gonna be repercussions (sp) an I didn't want the drama at my house with my nephews here (live with the brother an wife an kids) so I helped him load it up an he said if I ever need to weld anything tht I could come to his shop an weld whatever I need. So after Xmas I'm buying another welder so it'll b mine an noons can say **** to me

    i suggest sticking with miller, lincoln, or hobart. they are good brands and if anything fails a local weld shop can get replacment parts easily!

    Hobart is a miller really? Damn didn't know that. I found a place that is selling Hobart handlers 187 for like $609 an free shipping
