So I drove my truck today an when I went to downshift into 2nd the shifter came back really far so I was comin up to the stop sign an go to put it in neutral an it felt like it went forward then fell down. I also noticed I can pull the shifter up a little bit.

Pull the shifter book off and see what happened. Maybe your shifter un bolted from the trans or something like that.

many cars like my BMW and nissans have nylon bushings on the shifters under the boots, if we have one too then it might be like a 15 cent part.

Does it only happen in 2nd? Does it seem to have extra play in all gears? Def remove boot and check.
