I was driving down the freeway at 70 and funny smell and and I start loosing power I get off the freeway and right when I come to my resting spot I hear a not so loud click I look on the ground and there is a lot of oil, lots of oil on the front of the block.
I get the truck home ( thanks AAA) and sence I know nothing about motors park it for two days. After that click I never tryed to turn the engine over.
I called a buddy that restors old datsuns and ask hi if he ca come look at it even tho it's a toyota he says yeah when he gets here I try nturnitover and I'd makes a whining sound but that's it's we check the wires to see if there is spark to all four and there is. Did I break a timing chain? If so do I have tore place the whole head? Or is my motor toast.
Sorry for the long over drawn post...

What color was the oil? Could it maybe be the bearing to the power steering pulley? I had a loud click in my front end when the bearing to my fan seized up. Just another guess at it.

It's very common for the timing chain tensioner to wear out & the chain cut through the housing. Noise & a leak may result:cool:

You said you checked for spark and there is on all four then that means your timming chain is still intact and functioning.A good inspection needs to be done in order to find the source of the oil.Look for obvious holes or cracks where oil is leaking out of.You also said your oil level is almost full on the dip stick so check your coolant level in you radiator. If you have mixed oil and water it would explain your high oil level even with the major leak you described.Pics of the motor will help.If I were you do not attempt to start the motor until you have figured out the problem. You risk causing further unrepairable damage to the motor.

Truck Action is right. The winding could be the chain sawing into the timing cover.Easiest way to check that is pull off the valve cover and look down at your chain and check for good tension.

timing chain set about 60-70$(guides tensioner and gaskets)
    timing cover about 60$
    head gasket 60-70$
    oil pan gasket 20$
    oil and filter 30$
this is a rough estimate based on Guam prices.

What kills you is if you pay someone labor. At least here in the states.

timing chain setup with new water pump, oil pump, timing cover, and steel guided timing chain set will run you about $160 from engnbldr. best deal for the quality you get.

to determine if any of your spinning accessories have seized up, loosen the tension on all your belts and spin them.... (water pump, alternator, etc) if something stuck or seriously hard to spin, you located a drag point.

that smell you said you caught, was it a oil, coolant, rubber, metallic type, or plastic kind of smell and was it a burnt type smell? before the truck died, was it running hot? when you pulled the dipstick did it have a burnt oil smell to it? did it have a silver-ish look to it like metal may have been contaminating the oil?

this may go against others opinions on this subject but if you cant further find what the issue is, you could try and turn the truck on with assistance from someone in the truck while you try to quickly source the noise in the engine bay... look for a serious leak that may be caused by either oil pressure or water pressure once the truck is running, then have it shut down after you find it.

try sourcing these answers and get back to us. good luck.

So I had someone come over that knows something and they told me that my timing chain or timing belt what ever it is is broke, there is no compression at all and also who ever put the valve cover on used silicon <spelled wrong sorry! and the valve cover moved so oil came out in the front so know the big question is, Is my head messed up? There is a good chance it is... So the truck will be down a month or two cause I'm not working right now... Bummed about that
