I am trying to order so drop spindles and a some lowering blocks. Where is a good place to pick them up and what model of drop spindles do I need? I am getting 2 different models from the places that I am looking at. I also want 3 inch angled blocks.

DJM makes angled steel ones. I replicated their blocks for a customer once who never picked them up.

I do not see angled 3" blocks. Would it be smart to do a 4" angled block? Is steel or aluminum better?

Steel is better. The aluminum ones can shatter, I've seen pics, but personally I've been running aluminum blocks on lifted and lowered trucks for the past 15 years and have never had a problem.

Beefed at streetacos.com makes about the best blocks out there, but the price is higher

I sold mine for less than the steel Belltechs retail for. I don't have them anymore, but I made them in 4" angled.

I think you might be really close at that point. a 4" block and pulled leaf is about 5", might be sitting on frame already at that point.

And you should check out beefed taco for blocks and u bolts. A little more expensive, but quality isnt cheap. Like they say, you get what you pay for.

And Twisted Minis has drop spindles for sale

Should i do 4 inch angled blocks then take the truck to do a half notch? I am sure it would be fine to drive it to where i would need to go for the notch right? If it is sitting firmly on the frame i will not take the leaf out then. I heard so that angled blocks are much better so i might as well get a better block and leave the leaf in if i need.

well....... ive done Mac's truck with 3" drop leafs and a set of 3" drop blocks...... he sat with the axle hovering less than 1" off the frame, so a 5" drop may give you a little more breathing room before you notch it. notch work does not cost more if you notch it 2 or 3 inches..... (at least it shouldnt) if you hit up beefed taco, i believe he makes a "bolt on notch" that you can do yourself with a fair amount of tools and a little know how. i think its also weldable should you decide to do it that way as well.

the angled blocks idea is ok but i never found it necessary..... i ran non angled for the longest time and never noticed vibrations. i also ran 3" blocks with 3" drop leafs and never noticed vibrations either...... actually, none of the trucks ive dropped ever noticed vibrations when i dropped them.

anyhow...... i would suggest you go ahead, do a 3" block, then look to remove the middle leaf. a 4 inch be ok but the axle wrap may appear...... me personally, i would find a set of 3" drop leafs then do a smaller block. all depends on your budget though.

Stillen is where I got my spindles. I paid 320 but I also picked up shocks and I picked them up. As for the rear I got the 3" blocks at pepboys and pulled a leaf. Im not exactly sure how much it dropped it, but im tucking half of the tire above the rim (245/40/18).

I had a 91 with 4 inch blocks. Had about 1.75" or so between axle and frame. Was easy to bottom it out, had some really low profile bump stops. Wanted to do a mini notch but never did. Axle wrap was lame on stock wheels. But with 20s, they where too heavy to get any axle wrap. I hated that truck.

I got 2" of drop by pulling my middle leafs. I wouldn't assume you will only get 1".

I measured it and i have just over a 6 inch gap between the axle and the frame. I figured i would do a really low profile bump stop and pull the middle leaf with the bottom one flipped at best. I will probably still with just the 4 inch blocks until i can notch the frame.

I think you will be pulling that 4 and putting in a 3 or notching the frame shortly after. I have a pulled middle leaf and 3" blocks and it bottoms a LOT.

Yeah I am guessing I will bottom out a lot. I think i will keep the 4 in until i can get it notched then i will pull a leaf and see how it sits. I really want to avoid doing any frame work but it looks like i will have to if i want to get it any lower.
