Brand new on here and glad to see some mini truck love. I've got a beat up old '81 that I've had since HS and its been a dream to own. Never needed anything beyond oil change, new tires, and other regular maintenance. She's acting up now though. Rough time starting and staying going for a bit unless I give it some gas and seems to die out at 1500 RPM unless I really gun it. Any clue what could be the issue?

My vote is the carb... maybe needs a rebuild?

I was figuring a carb issue. how much work goes into rebuilding one of the 22R carbs? never really undertaken a fix like that mostly just stuck to small things.

had a valve adjustment and timeing chain in its life? those are things to do that will cause this issues and worse if left ignored.

Most guys usually just throw a Weber on and be done with it. Do a search for Weber on here and you'll get more than enough info.

i would say the carb as well the stock ones are not worth rebuilding there junk put a weber on and you will get a bit of a power gain with better gas mileage:evil:

Thanks for the info. I was looking up the Weber 32/36 w/ adapter kit from NWOR. Heard good reviews about them.
