I found some nice Rota Kyushu wheels on CL. They are 15x9's. The bolt pattern is correct but I don't know if 15's will fit the front suspension I'm putting on my truck. Will 15" rims clear a 2" dropped spindle and a 3 " lowered control arm up front and will the scrub line be ok with 15's in the back using 3" lowered leaf springs and 4" blocks? It's a '93 std cab short bed. Any help with this would be awesome!
First question would be what's the backspacing on those? I know I've measured my 85 and if I I go from a 14x6 to 15x7 and increase the backspacing by 1 inch, keeping the distance from the mounting plate to the fender the same, I'm pretty sure it'll hit the suspension at full turn. My stock wheels are tucked into my fender. I have spindles, LCAs and a BJ flip. So if you had a 14x6 and went to a 15x9 you'd want your backspacing to decrease by 3 inches to clear the suspension arms. This would probably stick the wheel/tire well outside the fender, or at least it would on my 85. Not sure the clearances on y'alls trucks.
Wouldn't be 3 inches but and inch and a half. 9" wide 0 offset would be 4.5" either way. 9" wide +35 should be just about perfect. The way I always reference offsets is 25mm is 1", + pushes out - pulls inward. Offsets can be confusing once you got it its easy.
Thanks for the backspacing info. It will help for sure. I keep seeing these trucks online with really wide 15's poking out and super low pro tires. Really reminds me of the good ol days back in highschool. Now I too can afford the nice rims and proper lowering suspension that I couldn't back in the day.I already have the suspension, 4wd fenders and stuff but want to get the proper wheel/tire info before I buy. I would like to achieve this look but haven't been able to chat with any of these guys to see what they have for suspension, wheels/tires, backspacing or rubbing/clearance issues. If you know of these guys or are one yourself, can we chat somehow so I can get the look I'm after? A see a lot of them are from Hawaii if that helps...
Not one of em but... Usually a 10" wide +56 (if I remember correctly) 1°-3° camber, 7-8" wide tire usually something like a 195/50 15 gets you the stretch some like more some less, 4:6 drop should put you in the game. Used to build these canibeat/ hellaflush cars day in and day out. You can also get crazy with fender flares, cut your stock fenders and flare them out. All kinds of stuff, depends on budget and where your final destination is. Skies the limit.
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna have to keep looking around for a wheel that comes in the right width and has the offset to clear everything. I'm going to keep looking for the owners of the trucks I find online to ask a few questions and get some answers. It's really hard to tell how it all works from just a picture. Who knows...?
