Hi guys, I've talked to many of you by e-mail or phone, so I'm sure you all know I'm a long time Toyota nut. I haven't had the time in a long time to be a part of a forum, and this is the first time in many many years, that I have decided to become a member of any truck Forum. Most have so much drama and haterz that I don't feel compelled to be apart of it. If anyone ever has any questions on things that I might be able to help you with feel free and I'm hoping I might be able to learn a few things new as well. My direct e-mail is faster for me to reply too, since I check it several times daily, [email protected] So abit about myself- I'm 37 and have been into MINITRUCKS since the mid 1980's. I have always been very Artistic, and Minitruckin to me is just one of my many creative outlets. My first Toyota was in 1993 and since then I've owned a few dozen. I've lost count exactly but I think I've put more than 100 on AIR since I started doing air suspensions in 1993. I don't want to bore you all so I'll skip to the end. I currently own a shop called CanDo Specialties. We specialize in designing Tubular control arms and 4-link suspension kits for AIR RIDE. YOu might have seen our adds in MINITRUCKIN mag, or some of our products installed in Tech articles, and on SPIKE TV "TRUCKS". To be honest at the end of the day I just hope we helped another fellow Minitrucker in some way. Many will tell you that if you call and ask me questions, I'm know for talking your head off.. lol I just want to be there, and give back in any way I can, in exchange for allowing me to do what I love every day. I currently have a 92 Slammer 4runner with a 01-04 Tacoma from clip. Its bagged on a 2wd frame. Plans in the future are to build a Stock floor b/d frame on 22's or 24's. Its always time or money issue. My other newest 94 Toyota, is currently know in STRETTRUCKS mag as project Anti-Hack. Over 1000 build up photo's can be seen of this project on our myspace.com/CanDoInstalls under Bradys Toyota. Brady the original owner had the truck back for 1 month and got in a accident. I'm taking it over and plan to finish it. I'll post pics once I get the frame straitened and start working on the New look. Here are a few Toyotas I've had the Pleasure to help build Bob Grant and I did the Suicide doors in the mid 1990's Late 1990's SKINNED ALIVE I have all the step by step progress pix of this old truck.. my old 89 toyota ALTEREGO This is the Project Anti-Hack 1994 Toyota We bagged, body dropped to the rocker on 20's, keeping the heater and AC. The truck then was our customer's but I've since taken ownership. Many ideas for the completion is in the works. Big brakes front and rear, New Tacoma front Clip (maybe), Japan Tacoma taillights, New Bed built from scratch inside and out. Paint by Kal Koncepts/Air Syndicate www.gotpait.com I'm sure there will be a few more surprises. Over the next year you'll see this truck develop in the pages of Street Trucks, and a few articles in Minitruckin. Sneak peak... So that's enough introduction stuff, I'll try keeping you all updated on the current projects, and I update the Myspace everyday that we make progress as well. Glad to be hear! I'm still defying the laws laws of physics or whatever bull**** people are always talking about your reverse 4-link! Thousands of miles later and I haven't had the first problem! You're definately the man!
Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words, as many of you know I hold down the fort here and put in CRAZY hours, many times 100+hrs a week to keep up with everything. What else I could I ask for right! Especially when 90% of what I do every week is Toyota this and that So thanks to everyone for supporting me over the years and allowing me to do what we all love for a living. To answer a couple from above sorry don't Finance. I learned my Lesson since sept 911 and thats Pay for everything up front, and not let anyone owe me, because if you do you do you can't be in debt or owe anyone. That's the plan anyways..lol I'm always interested in hearing about my friends and customers prokects, and if they are Toyota, I'm even more tuned in. This is the only truck forum I've belonged too in several years. I don't think I'll be able to stay caught up with you all every day, but I'll get on here and chime in now and then. If anyones interested I did the 94 Standard cab Toy step by step, with the help of my boys, Terry and Ryan. We posted over 1000 build pics in myspace.com/candoinstalls Its not spectacular, but I can say its done with time and care and we wanted to keep it simple enough most you guys could follow along and accomplish the same level of quality. Just a matter of taking your time and not rushing through it. Terry on here with the Stout has awesome pics of doing a Stock floor on a 88 Toyota. Using the CanDo Cantilever but installed it all FWD rather than Reverse. Looks pretty sweet. We have another 84-88 x-cab lined up to do everything too, including the stock floor so that will be a step by step on our myspace in the months to come. Justing waiting on the customers cash to build up before we get to deep. For the record I have never thought of myself as being of higher status, ask anyone that's talked to me. I'm just another minitrucker, that's been lucky enough to make a job out of it the past 13+ yrs. I'm also a open book, so if you ever want to e-mail me or call me, you can ask anything and I'll be glad to share. ok I'm going to get a few things done tonight so I'll be talking too yaa all. Here's a pic of the Side street by my house, I took the 94 Toy to get the frame straitened Tuesday.
I appreciate it as I do all you that show support. For the record and I guess against all odds, I've sold that kit driven on that kit and installed many of those same kits thats on your truck, over 8 yrs or so now. Happy to say I've never gotten a complaint or problem one from any of my customers that use it. In fact they say much the same as you have. Possible that people could have issues would be if not running shocks in the rear, but that would be the same Both style kits, when ran Cantilever. Its not the 4-Links fault the installer don't install correctly or not run shocks, that causes most the problems people talk about. Either way I'm sure there are still people on here and everywhere that are against them simply because on paper it don't supposed to be a safe kit. I say we've turned the tides. To many thousands of happy customers with actual experince with it not to believe they work fine. As always anything can be done a right and wrong way and I don't think we need to hate on something because there's a few people that either don't want to try it to give it a chance or just always heard something that they are passing on. You know I really don't want to bring this into this forum, do to the drama it might cause, but if any of you want to know from my personal experinces, the pros and cons to look for on any type of 4-link, I'd be happy to disscuss it by phone any time. 530-533-8680 Last thing, I do approve of most all type suspension kits when done correctly and safe. I personally have tried quite a few, and the only one I hate, is the fwd/rev kit meaning 2 fwd with 2 reverse. Not good by all means.
For sure, you know Lambie with the Pink Toyota? He's been working there for a while. Anyways yaa soon as Semas over hopefully I'll have the truck close enough to bring it to them. Its already a done deal, as far as having them paint it.
Hey, lookin at those pics of the yota on the trailer. Can you post some quick pics of the Taco? Are those white rims? Looks bad ass!
Hi Steve I'm a customer of Cando, I brought a set of Caddie buckets off you a few years ago. Great product and extremely helpful service that you provided! Thanks again man Here is a photo of the final result Regards James New Zealand P.S. I also bumped into a fellow nz trucker who caught up with you in the states, I forgot his name but he spoke highly of you. Keep up the good work
