    Hi,

I just bought a 1971 Hilux, and thought I'd join the club for all the great information here. Years ago I had a 1969 Corolla, so this is a more practical piece of nostalgia for me.

I bought this over the internet, based on pictures and conversations with the owner. It's all original, but I think I have my work cut out for me. I replaced the exhaust flange gasket so I could hear myself think, then tuned it up. It's running rough, and I discovered that it's not firing on number 4 cylinder. The plug is clean and I have spark, but that's as far as I got with that. The brakes are going to need some attention if I ever want to stop, but the motor comes first. I'll be getting back to it this weekend.

Welcome! I have family up in King County and I've been to the State Fair in Puyallup. Haven't visited the Pacific Northwest in a few years, but I spend most of my time in Renton & W. Seattle.

That's a really nice looking classic Hilux you found. Looks like everything is there and in good condition.
    How's the interior?

Keep us posted if you find the cause of #4 not firing!

Whats up buddy. Nice find. I'm thinking your problem on number 4 cyl. could be a bent valve. Does it run rough at idle but seem to run ok when your driving? Could be a bent valve or maybe a broken valve guide preventing the intake valve from closing all the way.
