The lights don't work consistantly. I assume the switch on the wheel is bad. Do I have to go to a dealer to get this or can I take it apart and clean the contacts ?? any advice appreciated .. Thanks, 22R88
Thanks for the reply. It is a 1988. Reg Cab 2WD DLX Where is the relay ? How do I check it ? Thanks 22R88
well, it's by the battery, but i just went outside to check and didn;t find one... either because my sticker is broken on the box or it doesnt have one or hmm... lol.. maybe it's under the dash... i'll look into it... if not, i have a spare switch.... i'll look into it.... *edit* ok i just looked up on alldata and it's by the battery for the 88 model year... i suppose it's different for mines? idk.. wtvr... it's up there for yours...
OK. I pulled the relay while the high beams were on and they went out. Low beams won't come on at all anymore, high beams are hit and miss when I have someone turn the switch I feel the relay click. Can the relay be bad on low beams only or is a relay just good or bad ? I am thinking that the switch on the columm is the problem ??? Thanks 22R88
happen to me same prob i had just not to long ago well it sounds like it try moveing around the wireing under ur steering colom the on that gose to ur left and right, hazerds, wipers and all that and at the same time turn ur lights on and off see if they will work this work for me but for me it was my high bems that were doing that if u find out find the spot were they will stay on and (i ziptied myn) u can zip them up or find a way to have them not move or tape them up let me no how it gose
Turned out to be a bad dimmer switch. Had to remove wheel and take blinker/ dimmer / wiper assbly out and extricate switch to replace. Thanks, 22R88
