header concerns 84 p/u

    My next project is to get a muffler.I was thinking of puting on a header @ the same time.Has anyone in the Los Angeles area done this and wiil it pass smog?

    I think aslong as the O2 sensor is at the collector and not on one of the single pipes it should still read correctly. Now the visual check during smog might be where you have an issue.

    There is a carb legal/ smog legal one for our trucks but it's like $500

    Any header that states it is Ca. legal should come with a tag that you put on your firewall.
    Without it you won't pass smog!:cool:

    It all depends on the smog tech.
    Most that know the 22R should just do the sniffer.
    These engines run so clean i doubt they would say anything
    look poor, dont come looking like u have lots of money, cuz they will want some of it.

    Does anyone in Calif. have a header on thier truck(duh) that is street legal? Can you post pics.I've searched the net and Pacesetter is the only one I've found for my 84. It's a 2 piece for $400 w/the oxg. sensor mount on it.

    Does anyone in Calif. have a header on thier truck that is street legal? Can you post pics. I've searched the net and Pacesetter is the only one I've found for my 84 automatic. It's a 2 piece for $400 w/the oxg. sensor mount on it. Do you swap it back to stock when it's time to get it smogged?
