I just picked up a 84 sr5 xcab from my father in law, so far i have done a lot to just get it running again and smoothly. Now that i have that problem covered im having trouble finding the head light relay if there is one? there are no low beam lights but the brights work fine. any help for a new mini owner?

the headlight relay is under the hood on the passenger side of the truck, and you may want to check the plug in to see if you have power coming out of them, because if you do then it may be just your headlights low beam filament blew. or in other words if you have a car that uses the H4 bulb style stick it in the plug and see if it has hi-low beams.

Ok, so i found the relay for the hi-low and checked it out. it seemed fine be i replaced it any ways. once that was finished i unhooked the head light and the both leads say 12 volt , when i turn the low beams on one out of the three says 12v. so i replaced the bulbs and still no low beams. im thinking it has somethin to do with the signal stat in the sterring colomn, but what i am not understanding is with the low beams on ,on the harness one of three wires in hot and 12v is present, when i hit the highs two of the wires are hot with12v. this is the same for both sides. anyone now of a link on a wire diagram cuz im coming up short. thanks guys

check the pins in the plastic housing part of the whole plug, it may be sending a signal but maybe the low beam pin isnt contacting the low beam contact. was it re-wired before, and are you using closed housing halogen headlights or did you do a H4 conversion?

OK, I got it. Finally found out what the heck was making my lowbeams not function. the lowbeam terminal in the signalstat had broken contact and i couldn't find it till i took it completly apart. well atleast i didnt have to burn it to the ground. woo hoo
