All data says it pays 8.0 hrs.

So im sayin it isnt a walk in the park

I had a GEO version of that car. It ran crazy good, even with an automatic. :)

8 hours means off and on in one work day...thats pretty easy. Plus i do about 12 book hours of work a day, so really thats off and on plus something else in one day...

it requires some good mechanical knowledge. for someone that works on their own stuff and can rebuild a motor........ i say its about a 4 on the scale as well.....

for first timer and mild knowledge of mechanics...... possibly a 7 the first time around..... 5 or 4 the next time. it gets easier :waytogo:

if you decide to take it on......... make sure to take your time and have a good stock of metric tools. i would guess its gonna be a full days job to tear it down. average shop will charge you around 300-400 for a head gasket job. (average).

since you are gonna remove the head, i would suggest to replace the timing chain and oil pump while down there. after that, if the rest of the motor is in decent shape, you should have nothing to really worry about majorly for that motor. :waytogo:

Remember aluminum, don't use a wire wheel to clean it!!
And have it surface checked for wrappage!!
May have to have it resurfaced!
