Dude, that's one helluva project you've taken on and it's coming together pretty badass. I still remember the first time I saw your pics...stunned. Then I was lucky that you were nice enough to introduce me to this site, remember??? :)

Congrats on the recognition - well deserved.

took welding in high school to fill an empty spot, my mom suggested it and my exact words were "why the hell would i take that, i'm never going to use it". then at the end of my junior year the wood shop teacher offered me a position with his company, nothing but stick welding. then i went to a diesel shop where i learned oxy, mig and tig welding, as well as fabrication. after 3 years at that diesel shop i went to the competition, superstition trailers and have been working there for the last year and a half. i'm eating my words now, since i've made a living of it. i can oxy, stick, mig, tig, on steel, stainless and aluminum. the hardest thing to learn is stick welding aluminum. its a bitch.

community college courses are a good place to start, but they don't come close to scrathing the surface of what time will teach. there are also weld schools, but they are very exspensive. my buddy used to teach one back in the 80's and he said it cost 5 grand.
