Let me start at the beginning... I bought my first Toyota Pickup the day I graduated high school. At first I was drawn to it because I thought it was a cool ride. It was already lowered and had a yellow paint job with these black blotches of paint the ran up the front. But soon, I fell in love with it and started modifying it myself. At first, I paid for people to do stuff to it... but that got expensive real quick, not to mention I wanted to say I did the work myself, so I learned how. And then, the engine blew. Threw a rod right out the side. Did I give up on her? No way! I went to the junk yard and got another engine to rebuild and put in it, even though I had never done anything like that before. It didn't go well at first. First, I thought they gave me the wrong engine. I broke bolts in it, didn't set gaskets right, and slaughtered the build. it was a tremendous fail, but still I did not give up. I took the thing back out, did some research and found out I had in fact an engine that Toyota only made for 1 year, and it was a really good one. So, I went and I read, I took my time and built it a second time, but now it was unbelievable! In fact, I got the thing so fast it went 0-60 in just over 5 seconds! Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. It peeked my interest so much in auto repair and modification, I took classes and even ran my own business for a few years. I continued to modify it, and at last got the new paint job I wanted. Mustang yellow with black racing stripes. About a month later, I got creamed in the rear end. Destroyed the entire bed and bent the frame up pretty good. That's when I put it in storage... about 11 years ago. Now, three kids, a degree in mathematics and statistics and a divorce later, I have finally been given the opportunity to bring my truck out of storage. I have just bought a 94 Pickup and I am preparing to rebuild my dream. This time I have more wisdom, experience, and ability to do it right the first time. After I am done, I will give it to one of my daughters... The first one to graduate college with a real degree. So, to sum it all up. I am an old school Toyo owner doing it again, and am so glad to find other people that share my obsession! I hope to meet some great people on here, and share stories and advice.
I posted some pics of the old pickup on my profile. Going to take some pics of the new truck tomorrow... Have to get this thing road-worthy first. Replacing part of the wiring harness and the rear brakes.
