So I was thinkin when I redo my bed instead of doing a sheetmetal bed floor I was thinkin of doing a glass one. I work in a glass plant an can get anything I want at a cheap price. So I was thinkin of doing a nice sized glass bed floor to see the suspension an maybe have it a little tinted an maybe have some LEDs shinning on the suspension. Let me know what you guys think

Pros, would look badass, and very unique
Cons, would be a bitch to keep clean, and if its not a trailer queen i would worry about it breaking if you drive it alot.

Yeah, copy that. It's hard enough to keep my frame clean and I can reach most of it through the bed.
There would always be that one nasty water spot....

It would be hard to keep clean but I could always but like that clear film on it so when I go to shows or somethin I could tear it off. Or a tilt bed :) I can also go to almost 6 millimeters thick. I was thinking of doing like a sandwich of rubber around it

it would definitely be badass, but maybe a plexiglas floor would be better?

i think it would look sick. if you get the thick one then that heps from breaking as easy but is that much heavier. But if you go thin then its that much easier to break over a bump or something like that but lighter. so if you think you can keep it clean and not break then do it. Tilt bed would help alot and look bad ass. You know what forget everything i said and do it. I like the idea

Well the glass will be tempered which is heat treated so it can with stand alot I watched a video on YouTube of a guy throwing baseballs at a piece an it didn't break an I've personaly have it pieces at work with shovels and they wouldn't break. Why not plexi? Well I can get a descent sized pieces of tempered glass for around $15

instead of the whole bed floor, how about just some windows. You could have them etched (for some old skool flavor) with something that suits you, then light the edges with LEDs so the etching shows up, but you can see right through the rest.
    kinda like this
    I dunno, just a thought.

Hey Yota, sweet Idea. but if your not into the plexi glass idea, how about pourable clear resin? you could build your template/box to the size and shape you need.its super bendable,so it can flex under hard tension, you can drill through it to attach the rubber to it and to the bed and it wont fray,or bust. it pours crystal clear, and you decide the thickness. plus if you decide to do a tilt bed it'll be easy to clean, you'll have the strength of glass, the weight of plexi, and since you'll be pouring it, it'll mend to any shape or design you wish. Also just as a little extra you could drill tiny holes in the sides of it and hotglue in l.e.d.s. and with the flip of a switch the glass will illuminate and show off your suspension. Just throwing an idea at ya. Best Wishes. -Joe

Why not use a 'panel' style method...

Have sheet metal (or something else) panels line the bed floor that are relatively easy to remove. Make glass panels and a special bag to store them in. When you get to a show, remove the sheet metal and lay down your glass. Flip a switch for the LEDs; enjoy!
