after years of abuse, my stock 18 year old alternator is finally dying... time to upgrade.. I took everything apart and checked fitment of the bracket I got off a guy on pirate4x4 with a core. then I placed a order to summit racing and west marine. the blue sea fuse block will replace the stock distribution point on the drivers side. I also picked up a MSD under hood capacitor, since their ignition boxes are noisy little bastards. Now I just need to put it all in...
Those alts are a direct bolt in replacement. A lot of my stereo friends use those alts instead because they are cheaper and you can fit a bigger winding inside of it. Stock plug also fits. Nice work.
Im interested. Can you post some more info Trap on say, What vehicle is supposed to have one? Or is it a GM standard 1 wire? Internal/external regulated? Amps? Guessin 130. And what bracket mods, if any are needed? The alt is 1 of 3 things that arent up to my standards of toyota reliability.
Just a word of advice, the GM cs series alternators are not that reliable. Good luck with yours though. James
gm used these alternators for at least 10 years on the majority of their vehicles.. same mounting as a 1 wire (im kicking myself for not getting the 1 wire) internally regulated, 105 amps stock .. this ones built to 140. the bracket I got here I am aware this alternator is nowhere near as reliable as the incredibly reliable stock denso, but I do car audio for a living
