i'm getting an 88 4x4 next week! it's my friends truck, and has seen better days. he was out wheeling and popped the bead, and it rolled. we straightened it out and put new glass in. i'm not sure if i should put a new cab on or put a cage inside and cut the roof off and make a canvas top. i should have pics tomorrow. also i'm planning a straight axle swap.

not too much.... it actually runs and drives fine. he rolled it like 2 years ago and has driven it ever since. it will probably take a while to aquire the parts for the straight axle swap. i can also use it to haul the 86 around to the local shows.

    if your gonna wheel it...

dont get a new cab...yet. wheeling is much more fun if you dont care about dents. and cab swaps are a bi+ch!

my rule of thumbs for cab life time is simple:

if the windshield fits its still good.

the cabs are good for 1 complete roll, after that the B pillar most likely wont hold up, you can flop em on the side all day long and they'll be fine, but if any wieght was on the roof the cab is most likely done.

after seeing your mini build i can wait for this one :D

check out the toyota section at www.pirate4x4.com for a few idea's:waytogo:

after my friend rolled it he didn't get as crazy with wheeling it. it came staight over and landed on the roof. he said the roof saved his life once and he didn't count on it to do it again. he wanted me to put a cage in it, but never came up with the funds. i might play with it a bit, then if it strikes me change the cab out. that will also give me time to find a smokin deal on a cab and doors. watching your videos on youtube really made me want to get it. i grew up wheeling and always enjoyed it, so i figured what the hell. i guess time will tell if i leave it as is or fix it up. i'm definitely going to bob the bed though. i think they look cool as hell when there bobbed.
