So, I just recently slapped on a new set of wheels and tires on my truck. Looking to lower it front and rear. How functional would the truck still be with a drop. I assume the front drop wouldn't matter that much but the rear would affect my load capabilities. What drop procedure should I follow to still have the same load capabilities as stock?

    Thanks!

I've go belltech drop springs out back with Monroe variable rate load carrying shocks, and I have hauled loads of slabs 8' long above the bed rails with no problems.

Blocks alone dont change spring rate or anything. You might just bottom out quicker with the bed loaded. Throw air shocks in

Sure! they were Monroe 58645 shocks. The bushings that come in the shocks won't fit our trucks, so I pulled them and put in some Energy Suspension urethane bushings #8141g. RearShocks.jpg

Keep in mind these shocks are much shorter than stock, and should only be used with drop springs, not with blocks.

Also, as you can see, I have stock bump stops. I did end up drilling a 1/2" hole through them to soften them up a bit. Now I don't have the awful bang clunking of when I ran drop blocks and gabriel load adjust shocks and would hit the bump stops regularly, I don't really even slow down for speed bumps much now.

I've been doing a bit of research and have decided on drop leafs from belltech, but I do have a few questions. I read through Justin Dangers build and his installation of his drop leafs. His year model pickup is newer than my 77. The leafs are intended for a 79-88 model year truck. I went through all the info I could find and nothing denotes that they would work for my year truck, that being said the rear axle dimensions on the pickups between his and my 77 should be very similar. Do you guys see me running into any problems? I have the Moog OEM Mighty max coils to swap out the stock ones on my p/u. I would really like to do front and back in series. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Had no problems while I ran static dropped, axle hit the frame so went ahead with the 8'' notch as knew I'd be bagging her soon. Rode like this for a few years , bagged for over 7 years now & all is good,
Roll @ 4.5 '' off the ground , lift her in & out of driveways & over speed bumps!

Hey guys I have a 78 Hilux lowered with 4inch blocks in the rear. I need air shocks for the rear. A part number would be much appreciated! (I've looked into the Monroe MA-792 air shocks but they're sold out everywhere. Looking for a good alternative to those) Thanks!

I ask because the air shocks that are for these trucks dont compress to a smaller height. With blocks only itl be fine, if you start messing with the leaf packs then youll need something shorter

For sure. I ended up going with some ma-812 air shocks. Hoping they fit. And hopefully I'll have time this week to install them.

Did you end up trying out those drop leafs? Did they work?
