Im trying to figure out if theres any way to shorten the track width or anything to help tuck a 18x9 30mm offset 6.2" backspacing wheel on a 79 pickup. Im looking at 18x9/18x10 wheels. Plans are in order to shorten the rear. I started gathering parts for a 1jz/2jz swap so i need some kind of rubber to have fun with.

I gots no truck, for now
Other than custom control arms and tie rods or narroring the frame and custom engine mounts and crossmember there isn't anything really you can do to pull the hubs in. Maybe try to find a different offset....

Hope this helps, I can't remeber the excate numbers but:

My trucks an 82 and its bagged, with Belltech dropped spindles, cando upper and lower arms, 84+ front clip, 18x7 with 215/35's 42 mm offset (don't remember if it's + or - or the backspacing.

My tires rub at 60lbs on a med turn and it locks up at around 80lbs, I drive at 60 in the front and 20 in the back (sometimes 10) would like to drive around lower in the front but it's just something I have learned to live with.

Hope this info helps you out

Tub the inner fenders(although that is more for tall tires not wide ones). Make your outer fenders wider. Since you are going to have more power and want more traction, all you really need is wide rears. You could go a bit smaller in the front. Or maybe run tons of negative camber. But then your front tires will wear out on the edges really fast.
