Looking for reference photos of front bag setups and how the inner fenders are cut. I got some from a few threads but most are hard to grab reference points for where to cut. I have also seen some people remove the innER fender totally and some don't. Just wanting to have a better idea of what I'll be getting into in the next few months.
You are better off removing all the stock inner fender ,fit the wheels /tires you will be running & drop the whole truck down to the ground.Stock suspension out .Then to can see where the new fenders will need to be! I used trailer fenders & fabed up what was needed!
I cut along the fire wall then up to the battery but left enough room for it and dropped the truck to see how high to cut the top.
I think that the easiest thing to do is get the bag mounts built, suspension mocked up. Then, remove the outer fender (if you didn't already). Take the overall tire height that you plan to run, divide by two. Put the suspension at full compression (wheel off), take a string that is your measurement and working from the center of the spindle, mark a semi-circle around your fender from the outside. The general rule of thumb is to add two inches to the radius of the tire diameter. This gives you plenty of clearance in most instances and gives you some forgiveness when turning aired down.
Hey Gary and Litneon (forgot your name :/ ) can you guys post up some pics? Just kinda need some clear reference lines to go by. Started setting up the drop spindles tonight but waiting on new upper and lower BJs, should be in by Monday or Tuesday. Going to cut out all un needed metal whe I wait for them to come in to set up the bag brackets.
I'm sorry, I didn't take pictures when I was doing that part of the build. In hind sight, I wish I would have, but it was a rush job to get it back on the road so I could get to work the next day. David
I went exactly like the anti hack myspace build....except I didnt pocket the frame...the upper plate placement depends on the size rim you run, I forget exactly where...Ill try to find my picture...i kind of got lazy towards the end of my build and quit taking pictures... --Mike
