Dont wanna, but i gotta sell my 1973 Hilux. I had big plans for it, but due to a motorcycle accident and resultant surgeries I will not be able to operate a clutch for the next year or so, and I cant afford to keep it so here goes. This truck hasn't seen alot of action, it has less than 60,000 miles. The body is straight except for 2 small rust thru spots on fenders behind front wheel, and a few dings on the tailgate. There is a lil bit of surface rust in a few places and on the rims. There is also your typical surface rust from scratches on the floor of the bed and on the floorboards. The drivers door had been replaced by the previous owner, and I replaced that one w/ a better one. The 18rc engine runs great, but the 4-speed tranny needs a clutch, it is slipping in 3rd gear when you accelerate too much. The brakes have less than 5000 m. and could stand an adjustment. Front tires are new, back have about 2-3000 m. Truck is yellow and has a matching camper shell (topper) that is pretty ratty, you could take it or i could scrap it. The seat is torn and could use a cover, better yet replaced w/ one that hinges forward. This truck was originally from southern california, moved to northern oregon, I bought it there about 5 years ago and brought it to SF, i was gonna keep this truck forever, but you know, circumstances prevail. This truck is nice, It still gets many compliments on the street, in the right hands it could be a show truck. If you're the right person who likes to do the work yourself then you know what it could be worth. I'm asking $1700 or best offer. I will have pics up tomorrow, thanks.
Sorry to hear about the motorcycle accident and the body repairs (I meant yours)..I can relate. After somebody ran me off the road on my Electra Glide about three years ago I got a lot of new titanium parts installed in several places, and I had a hard time driving my m/t Subaru. I had a pretty hard time even getting in/out of it...but now that I look back on it, it wasn't all that long and I figured out how to deal with it. They told me it would be a year or more, but I was in it within three months. Not fun/comfortable, but I did it, damn it. I waited until I could prove to myself I could drive it for a few months before I sold it...I think it actually helped me to motivate to get "better" (read:deal with my new body parts) faster. I may not have been able to walk more than about 100 yards once I parked somewhere...but by the time I sold it, it was because it was a nuisance to drive it, not because I couldn't. I was ready for another Prius, anyhow. Sold my other motorcycle (my Harley was destroyed) before I sold the Subaru, though, that's for sure. Too many a$$holes that "don't see" motorcycles...I rode for 30 years without an accident, but it only took *one* for me to see the light and give them up. I hope you're healing nicely, and that you're not dealing with *too* much pain. My shoulder turned out to be the most painful (and still often hurts more/worse than even the three liquified vertebrae!)...you just never know how things will settle out. Godspeed in a full recovery... James
