After my head gasket blew and a new cylinder head was put on my 93 pickup, I still have a lot of oily residue floating in my cooling system, from when oil mixed with the water. cant afford to have a radiator shop back flush it , so I have been flushing out my self for 2-3 days now and there still is tan colored oily residue floating in radiator , I tried that little bottle of prestone radiator flush in the radiator but noticed no diffrence. What can I due ?????????

Read on a radiator web site, to drop cascade dishwasher liquid into radiator and drive around for 15-20 minutes, then flush out radiator and all oily residue will wash out !! THEN , you flush out with clean water... wont hurt dishes, shouldnt hurt hoses, anyone tried this ???

what I did for my old truck to flush it out, removed the 2 bolts to the thermostat housing, pulled it out. opened the radiator cap, put the hose in and open the hose up. had someone else start the truck and had it run with the water overflowing out the thermostat housing. Ran it till it was clear.

Then put everything back together, and added added 50/50 coolant.

parts store sells a radiator flush kit for 5 bucks, its a piece of plastic you cut one of your heater hoses and insert the plastic in btween, and it has a cap that you take off and put your garden hose to. do that with the engine running and the heater on, and on the passenger side, bottom of the radiator theres a plastic wing nut type screw that you take off, its the drain plug... let it runn like that for 5 to 20 mins or whatever, I would also try running some purple power or degreaser in it.. dont see how it could hurt it just make sure to get it allll out.... good luck

    Yup!

Believe it or not, Dawn Dish soap is the BEST alternative for getting all of that oil and grease out..
I tell you what, at the shop i work at, we got a bottle of dawn, lasts about a month but works 10x better than any gojo! so dawn would get all that crap out of your cooling system bud!
