I think if the flatbed got a trailer tub on it... that'd be sick! lol i like both ideas though. I say keep both. make them easy to interchange some how.
Its YOUR truck. Do what makes you happy and will benefit you the most in the long run. but if you are looking for opinions, Keep the bed and dish the flat.
The more I look at how the truck used to look, w/ the bed, I think I made a mistake by cutting it. I am still undecided, but I am leaning towards putting a regular bed on the truck. Damn, now I have to go find a regular bed.
i say keep the original bed and drop that **** like an inch off the ground....... respray it all a good solid color and steel wheel it...
I agree w/ above. But I want to make the right choice. I am going to lower the rear tomorow and mock up the rear fender flare. Maybe a small stake side in front of the flare. Decisions, decisions. This sucks
Yeah, I actually hesitated to answer. I had to wait to see what everyone else thought. In my opinion you should find a stock bed. As a fabricator I struggle with this decision on my own truck. I desperately need a 89-95 bed. I could easily build a flatbed, but it just doesn't look as good on our era of trucks if you want to build a street truck IMO. I agree with the budget build idea SDYota suggested.
Both Reattach the front portion of the top of the bed with a swooping design, so the wheel wells blend in, and you still have somewhere to tie stuff down. Poorly illustrated here:
Flat beds are the ****... But they have to be done rite. Wood bed top, small head ache rack, belly box's, and dove tail back. Low stake sides are cool too. But they have to be done rite. A little goes a long way. I had a few 60's Ford flat bed w/bags, and loved them all....
I am working on the tubs right now. I am also making a side skake for just in front of the wheel tubs. Just enough to help make the transition into the flat bed.
