Well I found this site on a google search for a Toyota Drift Truck.. I just picked up a 1987 Standard Cab/Short Bed/4spd/22R pickup. Paid $1500 on the basis of reciepts to a brand new 22R and tranny. Truck has 183,000mi with only 11ish on the motor/trans. I picked the truck up after selling my 2000 Audi A4. At 18, I couldn't afford the payments/insurance/fuel/parts totaling to around $700 monthly. Now I'm at no car payment, $60mo insurance, and have only put about $200 into it since day one almost a month ago. (Exhaust manifold/oil pan gaskets) The Audi: The truck: (Haven't taken the time to do an actual shoot of it, so bear with me on cell phone pics.) Current mods: 3in lowering blocks cranked torsens turn-down exhaust ****tastic bondo mod painted hubcaps Future plans: Swap.. I wanna try a 5MGTE. Custom fabbed suspension setup. Coilovers all the way around, supra brakes, etc. Wheels Bodywork Paint I want to go a ratrod/WTF is that look. Flat olive drab, rusted hood, black or gold 18's. Sideways the entire time of course.
Well the Audi was my dad's idea. First car, and a classy AWD for him to drive in the winter. Well when I turned 18, they turned the payment and etc over to me. **** that, I'm not paying that much for a car that isn't brand new. So I sold it. Forgot to add that the 4Runner front end is gonna be mostly chrome. Haha. Trying to find a 4x4 daily so I can get started on this beast. Thanks for the warm welcome. I guess thats one thing mini-truckers and VW guys have in common haha.
is it just me or does everyone want a drift truck now? I thought about using my truck as a drift platform back in 8thgrade, that being said, 8th grade was 3 years ago.
I think 18's are to big for drifting. I'm running 18's and I don't think it'll work. Let me know about that coilover conversion though. I've considered it myself. The suspension on these trucks suck a lot of ass.
Yeah I'm not gonna attempt a drift car on 18's powered by a stock 22R. Hell, a drift car (truck) period powered by a stock 22R. I'll be making just a bit of power. =]
You don't need all that much power. One of the best drift cars are also the most underpowered. Think ae86
True but the debate here was running 18's. Find me a bone stock 4AGE powered Corolla running 18's and drifting everywhere. I don't need power as is, but I want to do something a bit different.
anything better than the 22R.. go for it. hahaha if i had something along the lines of 230hp, i can drift... tehehheee
