Hello everyone, I have registered to other Toyota forums which were not horrible but didn't have the Yota mini truck enthusiast's that I seen here from reading a few threads. I'm glad to be part of this community now I could not help to register. My story begins with my 1993 Toyota Pickup 2wd, 4 cyl , 5speed cab and a half with a standard bed. I have owned this truck since 2008. My dad bough this out of the lot in 1993. He pampered it. Then he sold it in 2003 to a co worker who kept it in the garage for 5 years. When I became old enough to drive (18),I needed a reliable car for school and work. My dad asked his coworker to sell it back. His co worker was hesitant but finally have up to the pressure. It became mine. I immediately took of the 14 inch oem wheels and slapped on some 20s with 2 inch drop blocks. My truck wasn't the best but it got a lot of attention. Maybe the huge wheels lol. I took those off around 2011 and put it at the stock height because the tire prices were killing me. I now work as an owner operator delivery driver for a big rig truck company in my truck and man my truck is a beast. The amount of weight I have loaded into it is unbelievable. I've been with this job for a year now and of coarse I added a lot of miles already. I figured since my truck takes care of me, I'm going to take care of my truck. After all, it is my only vehicle, it has never left me stranded, pays my bills and helps me save money with the great mpg it gets. Even though I live in California where gas is 4.11 a gallon and drive for a living I do not waste too much on gas. My plan now is to add an exhaust system, k and n air intake, 3 inch drop on front and rear, remove the stock steelies and throw on some 17 inch 2011 mustang wheels i just bough on cl, add a latch sunroof, remove the rear latch window to a one piece window, paint it white but with a little pearl on it, remove the seats and add racing ones, and many other stuff but those are the main ones. Anyways thank you all and hope to see you guys soon.
Sounds like my first Toyota. I started with a 92 shortie. Dropped it on 14s, tinted all the lights and glass and just mobbed it with a 4" drop. Sounds like you have a solid plan. To set yourself apart, and maintain a level of junkyard pimpin; you can add lots of 4runner interior and exterior goodies, as well as 70s/80s era window cranks and heater control sliders. A sunroof is easy to install, I did to my 92 and was my favorite mod. I have a flat back window with seal fr a standard cab, but if you mean cab and a half as an extended cab, you need ex cab specific glass.
Thanks man. All with time I'm anxious all I do now is research stuff and look at parts. I hope to have it complete in a year from now. I'm so sketched about the sunroof installation I feel like I will cut all crooked. Is yours a latch pop up or electric? And what does the interior ceiling look like now? Did it cut into the dome light?
Glad you found it and welcome. You have a great start there. Sounds like you live pretty close to some family I have there at Lake Elsinore.
