Hello again everyone. Finally got the trucks to start a thread, haven't had a project in a bit. This is a thread for my June of '75 build Hilux. It is a long bed auto, soon to be converted to... something else haha. I bought her and her parts truck as a pair for $800.00, if I pulled the 20Rs and trans from both and let the PO keep them. I decided that was a fair deal, since I have bigger plans than a 20R. The parts truck is a '78, 5 speed. Bought it for the front spindles (Someone bought them from the '75 at the yard) and 5 speed conversion parts. It has a sunroof, and a few other weird things going on with it. I did get 2 brand new Headlight buckets, 2 new tail light assys, and a new front valence for the yellow truck. No telling how long they've been in the truck, they were behind the seats. Score! I also have a set of rims from a '98 Supra turbo to go on the '75. Only real plan right now is a 3-4'' drop, mkIV turbo rims, and one of my spare 7m's. :D Keep in mind, brown is a parts truck LOL, no saving that one. Crossmember bolts broke off in teh frame it's so rusty.

Awesome. Ill either Paypal you a few bucks to mail it or send ya some small parts you need in return. Although you prob have most of it covered with two trucks. I have lots of spare light lenses, dash switches and little stuff like that. Also have a few sets of metal heater slider knobs and switch knobs.

If it would hurry up and quit raining I could offer updates, lol. Well, I have 2 spare 7ms here, and I want to use one. I would like to use my '90 NA. It would be NA starting out until I got the suspension, etc right. I have the turbo intake, electronics, etc here to NA-T it later. If it doesn't work out, I feel like a 4agze or 3sgte would be a pretty sweet swap. Who knows, either way it'll be sweet when it's finished.

Not much to report. I've been down with the flu the past few days. I did get a moment today where I felt good, so I did a little work. I got the fender, better bumper, new valence, and a grill put back on. Didn't have 2 pieces the same color, but no biggie. It'll all be satin black eventually. I also swapped tailgate latches from the red truck, and a few interior pieces.

I haven't bothered putting wheels back on yet, as I have a set of Starion rims coming Saturday. After that I'll roll it next door to my dads shop, and the 7m swap fun will begin.

16x7 front, 16x9 rear. I'm thinking something along the lines of a 205/55, but we'll see how much beef I can get under there. I'm also trying to find some solid 3'' blocks for the ass, all I can find are the hollow aluminum blocks, and they don't seem very "sturdy" to me. I'm also looking at the Belltech Mighty Max front springs. Just waiting to see how far that 7m pushes the front down before I pull the trigger and purchase anything. If I could get my truck to sit like the red one in that photo I would be fackin stoked. I also need to get upper and lower balljoints, calipers (Someone bought them from this truck, too...) and front lines. Someone decided cutting was easier than loosening. Other than that it's just gonna be running a fuel line and wiring. No biggie, it's 5 wires and it'll run. I'm just scared to see how close the water pump will be to the radiator, and whether or not I can recess it into the rad support if need be (And I bet it will).

Well I can throw some insight in for ya. I have run MM springs and the spring rate is very similar to stock. I have broken some hollow blocks and now have a homemade 4.5" block bolted to the leaf using the leaf pack center bolt. Pulled center leaf too.

I would stick to a 50 series on 16s. 55s end up looking a big too tall. These trucks are dimensionally a little smaller than the average mini truck so a little less meat does the job. I ran 205/50 and 225/50 for a long time.

As for the rad, it could probably be pushed forward and rework the latch. Or run hood pins to delete the stock latch and location. Id love to see a 7m in this type of truck. Do it up. Grab your 5m mounts and go to town :D

I actually will be using a 7m that I had in a '79 celica, so everything to just bolt it up is here. :D

Good deal bud. I know celica supra 5m mounts are the secret to bolting a 7m in place of a 20/22r. Is that how you did it?

Yeah, I used 5m uppers with R lowers. In the Celica, I had maybe 1/4'' between the steering arm and the back of the oil pan. I hope the bay is atleast a little larger on the truck, as the crank pulley was touching the rad in the Celica. I had to step the rad over to the other side of the support. Only thing is I had the room there. The best thing about the Celica was everything bolted up, even the drive shaft. I just ran the wires to make it run. :D Shifter even lined up with the floor hole lol

Found even better pics for reference. This is with a 7m block bolted in to check clearance.

Damn that fits pretty good. How hard is it to wire up the EFI for a 7M, you say it's like 5 wires. Just power the fuel pump and ecu basically? Which side does the exhaust run down? How much fuel pressure do they need? Return line or return less fuel lines? Can you swap a stock electric in tank truck pump or a supra pump to get needed pressure and flow, or do you increase fuel line size?

It's an idea I've always considered for my 78. Even a fully built 20/22r combo isn't nearly enough power. And saying its boosted would be nice :D

Wiring is just Ecu hot, coil hot, ignitor hot, starter, and a few others. I'll make a sticky. It's reeeealy easy. I'll teach the way. Fuel I don't know about, I just run a Porche 944 inline pump and it's apparently enough.

You sound like an excellent resource for the 7mge swap!

Been wanting to do it for a while...

I wish more people would do in depth write ups on the 2wd 7m swap :)

Deff post lots of info and pics as you have a chance. Sounds pretty simple. If I did it, I'm sure the fuel is the least of the difficulties to set up.

Do you do any mods to the motor like porting or injectors or bigger throttle bodies or keep it pretty stock?

Usually just pretty stock. Coming from a R series to a M series is a big step in power. I'll probably do some work to this one, I'm thinking about just doing a 7m/W58 with itb's. I think that would be sex.

In other news, the '75 is on the ground. Finally got everything back together, and on it.

Need some new tires, but they fit good. I guess I'll be getting it ready for the 7m this week. I want to pressure wash and spray the bay first.
