Since it is so old it has probably been replaced a few times. But I think it is inch and a quarter. If not then close to that. Better just measure it yourself to be sure.

It looks like it was replaced from the manifold to the cat and then from the muffler back my thought is every thing was bought at a auto parts store and the cat and the conecting pipe with the bracket cost to much so it got left

so now that I need to address the cat I get to fix the swiss cheese pipe also:waytogo:

my thought was to get a chunk of pipe before I take the sawzall to it but after further investigaion I'm going to pull all the exhaust off and fix it right with weld and everything

usually its got around a 2" cat opening........ on average thats what i usually find on most trucks. good cat back system would be to get a 2 1/4 inch piping.

I gots no truck, for now
i had from the manifold back built for 200 including the muffler. ( i have no cat, im a 73 ) I used 2 1/4 and it runs and sounds fine. If you have a crappy section of your system, just replace the whole thing...its worth it.

Im just going to replace the bad part and the git rid of the cat the rest is in good shape other then its clapped together so Ill weld it up. I'll use up the engine before the exhaust rust away. and then at that time I'll make it breath better

I finely got off my ass and fix this little problem before when Id pull the hill out of the valley on the freeway by the time I got to the top Id be doing 45 50 mph and it would be running real hot. but now with my new 2' chunk of pipe thats replaced the pluged cat Im able to keep it at 75 and no heating problems

I almost feel like Im driving a hotrod:love:

just a heads up the book sez its 2" pipe from the head to the cat and 1 3/4" from the cat back and thats what mine was
