I have been browsing toyotamins.com and myjzswap.com and have not found what I am looking for. I thinking about doing an engine swap but I want to know which of these engines will swap over the easiest and does any of the mounts match up and which ones do if any?

    1jz
    2jz
    7MGTE
    1uz

I gots no truck, for now
none of those are "easy" swaps and no mounts will match up. i vote 1uz or 2jz. Ive never seen a running 1uz in a truck yet If you to the 2jz make sure its already turbo'd. its costing me as much to turbo my N/A as it would be to convert over to a single turbo on the GTE version

I am actually second guessing the whole idea now. My dream is to make a sleeper truck and a nice lowered truck but I think i might look into bagging my truck instead. Haha then i might put a turbo on my new honda. What do you all think of doing a notched rear end and doing bags on the front only?

Waste of time! If your gonna bag it then bag all 4 corners there is no reason to bag front only unless its a caprice and you want to be a cholo. However I will consider being ok with front only if thats all you can afford at moment.

Yeah I am looking to pay off all my debt and go back to school to finish my degree. Thats why i sold my tacoma and bought a honda. So i want to bag just the front or rear to save money have it low and still be able to get around. I do want to avoid the cholo look though. Everyone around here says minitruckin is cholo anyways so i guess things wont really change. haha

Mini trucks are not cholo's. I dont know man Id rather bag the rear end first. Also as far as motor swaps go it would be pretty easy to find (at a reasonable price) the 1uz versus a 2jz however the
7mgte is pretty easy to find as well. There are companies that make the swap conversions as far as motor mounts and such and maybe one or two that you could send your harnesses to and they could do all the clips and wiring all you would have to do is put in motor mounts, plug everything back in and a handfull of other things but the hard stuff would be taken care of like wiring and mounts. I guess you'd have to do the tranny and driveline as well but most drivline shops can do that.

    2JZ-GTE with a 6spd..
    Do it.
You want a sleeper? run some quiet flow through exhaust (resonator maybe and large Magnaflows?)

My friend has a RB25DET Silvia and with an OPEN exhaust, it's quieter than most cars. The turbo does alot of muffling.

i would consider a 3SGTE with a matching 6 speed from an altezza (jdm is300) it's a turbo 4cyl and it shouldn't be too hard to get mounts made, plus its RWD configuration.

I thought about that last year. I think even the 3SGE BEAMS would provide significant power in naturally aspirated form.

Slap in a 2rz and you won't regret it. Boost it to about 15psi with a cometic hg and arp studs w/ stock internals. Good for about 250-300hp easy! :waytogo:

Too bad the 3SGTE never came RWD, and making one RWD is a pain ( have to make forward facing intake, and go distributerless since the dizzy hangs out the back of the engine).

A 3SGE BEAMS out of an Altezze/IS200 with 6 speed would be awesome, except that its not turbo and costs the same as a 2JZGTE with Auto. You can get a 1JZGTE and R154 for the price of the 3SGE.

Also with the 2RZ/1JZ/2JZ you have to deal with the exhaust being on the wrong side, so you either have to move your gas tank or have the fuel lines cross the exhaust at some point. 2RZ is also front sump, so you'll have to source a T100 3RZ pan or try to mod the Taco pan.

As much as I hate to say it, an SR20DET would be an easier swap, too bad it from the 'other' brand :doah:

Or you could swap in an American V8 but I paid nearly $4 a gallon for gas this morning

Yeah I dont think i have the mechanical know how and tools to do something like that. I think i will just turbo my Honda SI and either bag my toyota or do a nice low static drop and maybe a IRS. Thanks for all the input i think i learned more from this thread alone then i could google. haha thanks guys. I will keep this in mind if i decide to do a engine swap.
