After I welded up some exhaust leaks, my 22r (32/36webber, cheapo headers) still sputters a few times after i shut it off. Sometimes it squeals at the end, sounds like gasses coming out the top end of the engine instead of the exhaust.

Any suggestions on how to fix that? stock 22r, 32/36 webber, cat delete, flowmaster 50, pacesetter headers.

Never had the problem when I had the exhaust leak. It was a pretty big one, less than a foot after the header.

Idle stop solenoid? My car used to sputter after I turned it off and after I changed the o rings on the solenoid it got rid of it.

Sounds to me like it's just dieseling.. Mine does it when the idle rpm is too high like when I stop and quickly shut it off or when my idle was just set too high.

Check for vacuum leaks on the carbs adapter plate etc. Had same problem.

my carb is manual choke. I'll try letting the rpm settle down a little before shutting it off. See if that helps.

I'll try messing around with the carb, get it to run a little leaner. Any other symptoms of a rich running carb??

Check your timing over advanced timing can diesel a motor when the carb is running rich or if u have a fairly high idle a lot of webers have weak throttle return springs I use a stiff one on mine to help close my throttle quicker

Symptoms of rich carb black plugs smelly exhaust black smoke poor gas mileage sluggish mid range performance hard starts when hot .. Might wanna check/adjust float level or mess around with a few different jet sizes of you can't lean it out with the adjustment screw

I had the same issue with my weber 38, and when I went back through my Weber 38 installation I figured out the my fuel pressure was too high with the stock fuel pump so I added a fuel presure regulater and set it to the proper fuel pressure wich you would find on your installation manual for your weber if you can't find it call the weber tech support line and they will help you find it. When I added the fuel pressure regulator it worked just fine.

If its running rich you should smell it and probably see some black smoke.. Are you running a fuel regulator with your weber?
