Engine paint

    Like the title says. What are you guys usin to paint engines. I know there's the rattle can hi temp engine paint but they don't come in many colors. So I was wondering what others use or have used

    I had most items powder coated & what isn't I used Por-15!:cool:

    I've used the rattle can stuff with success. Or you can use a good etch primer and base clear the engine. But anything you paint that's aluminum willl probably peel later.

    I prefer PPG DP40 self etch epoxy primer. Its not sandable so you need to put a reg urethane over it if your trying to slick it out good. Sand the casting, etch it, then prime it. 320 sand the primer and then seal, base, clear. It'll last years on an iron block and heads.

    If you're just painting it, hit it with etch, then sealer, base, and clear. Try not to build it up real heavy. Get enough of each layer for coverage and move on. It's not liek you'll be cuttin and buffin on the engine.

    the spray on stuff works good but oil eats it off...
